Meet the Team

Pat SUmmerscale

Pat Summerscales I am a retired professional in the service industry and I have been a member of Doncaster Baptist Church for many years. I enjoy my time now volunteering with groups who help the homeless and the needy: my various positions over the years have included Girlguiding UK: co-ordinating at dementia group run from our Church: late night walks on Doncaster streets as a Street Pastor helping those needing care. I am fun loving and enjoy meeting new people. I envisage my work with Renew Doncaster will be to encourage and show love and care to people who are on the edge of society.

Paul Standidge During most of my career I have worked within the railway industry where I was employed as a Project Manager with responsibility for multi-disciplined projects until last year, when I was able to take early retirement. During my early career I was employed as a physics teacher in Doncaster which was really challenging but great experience. Since leaving full time employment I am continuing to manage a portfolio of properties within Doncaster; as well as becoming actively involved with the Green Pastures project working on a voluntary basis. I believe the Green Pastures work is an excellent way of enabling me to ‘give back’ to the community in a practical way, helping and supporting homeless people in Doncaster move forward; ‘get their lives back’, and integrate into society. As a Christian I am actively involved in my local church, and when I am not working I enjoy ‘keeping fit’; walking with activity clubs, and travel.

Nicola Atkin

Nicola Atkin I was born in Doncaster and have lived locally for most of my life. I started my career as a Geography teacher and then worked for over 30 years in secondary education, eventually becoming a Headteacher, both in the UK and then overseas in Abu Dhabi. Upon my return to the UK, I continued to work in a variety of roles. For seven years I was a Non-Executive Director at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and also an Open University Tutor for 12 years. For the last 20 years and currently, I am licensed by the Cabinet Office to work as a Customer Service Excellence Assessor and Consultant, assisting a wide variety of organisations in driving forward customer-focused change and service improvement. My husband and I have been baptised members of Doncaster Baptist Church for over 20 years, with involvement in many church activities, including my ongoing role as BMS (Baptist Missionary Society) Secretary. More recently, the strong call to put ‘faith into action’, to support the church’s mission with the homeless, has led me to commit to using my senior management skills and strategic experience to help with the leadership of Renew Doncaster Limited.

John Leask I am married with four sons and I’m a leader at the Powerhouse Christ Church Doncaster. I was born in Glasgow and after school began my career as an Electronics Technician in the Royal Corps of Signals. I left the Army in 1986 and moved to Doncaster to study at Mattersey Hall Bible College. I retired in December 2015 after spending 25 years working in Policy & Partnerships and Community Development for Doncaster Council. In my spare time I enjoy travelling & sightseeing to delight in the wonders of this world. I’m a member of Doncaster’s Homeless Support Partnership and I am passionate about tackling poverty and improving the lives of vulnerable people in Doncaster. I believe Renew Doncaster can make a great difference through working closely in partnership with others to deliver hope and a better future for those facing hardship.

Reverend Ian Wright I am a Baptist Minister at Doncaster Baptist Church, Chequer Road and also at Conisbrough Baptist Church. I am married with 4 children I love getting out in the countryside with our dog for a good walk, appreciating Gods wonderful creation. I am pleased to be involved in Renew Doncaster as I am keen to see people who are struggling be given a hand up to a better life. There are lots of great projects in Doncaster that give lots to those that are struggling, but many are giving handouts. I believe this project in partnership with Green Pastures and many other churches and Christians in Doncaster has the real potential to give people the hand up they need.

Reverend Billy McFetridge I am a retired Preacher and Evangelist living in Doncaster. I have three children and I am the Community Chaplain in Doncaster which means that I work with those that society does not care so much about. These individuals will be similar to the men we are going to support on their life's journey with Renew Doncaster. This is something that we as Directors are excited about and to see God's plan work in the lives of these men as we prayerfully move forward together.
